Quality & Testing

Why we can promise on-spec.

"On-spec" is easy to put on a website. Here is what stands behind it at Mix Minerals — the checks a load passes before it becomes your problem instead of ours.

01

Qualified sources

We buy from producers whose material has a demonstrated history of meeting the standard — not whoever is cheapest that week. A new source is trialed before it is ever offered to a customer.

02

Testing against the standard

Drilling-grade barite and bentonite are evaluated against API 13A; Class F fly ash against ASTM C618. Specific gravity, viscosity and filtrate, LOI, and fineness are the properties that decide whether a load ships.

03

Certificate of analysis — on request

A certificate of analysis is issued on request for any shipment. Ask for it when you place the order and it travels with the load, so your mud engineer, plant QC or process operator can check the material against the mix design or fluid program before it goes in. If you need it against a specific test method or on your own form, tell us at the quote stage rather than at delivery.

04

Traceability — on request

Every load is recorded against its source and its test record. Ask for that history on a shipment and we will pull it — which producing plant, which lot, what it was tested to. It is the same answer three months later as it is the day the truck arrives, and it is the reason a question about a past load does not turn into guesswork.

05

Pre-shipment testing — on request

Where a job calls for it, material can be tested before it leaves rather than after it arrives. Drilling-grade barite and bentonite are evaluated against API 13A; Class F fly ash against ASTM C618. Specific gravity, viscosity and filtrate, loss on ignition and fineness are the properties that decide whether a load ships. Request it on the order and we will agree the scope and the turnaround with you up front.

06

Safety data sheet — on request

A safety data sheet is available for every product we supply, issued by the producing plant for the material you are actually receiving. Ask for it with the quote and it comes before the truck does, so your safety and receiving people have it in hand rather than chasing it after delivery.

The standards we work to

API 13A
Drilling Fluid Materials

Governs barite and bentonite for drilling fluids — density, soluble alkaline earth metals, viscometer readings, filtrate volume, and particle size.

ASTM C618
Coal Fly Ash & Pozzolans

Governs Class F fly ash for concrete — oxide sum, loss on ignition, fineness, and strength activity index.

ISO 13500
Petroleum & Natural Gas Industries

The international standard aligned with API 13A for drilling fluid materials specification and testing.

Have a specification your project requires that isn't listed here? Send it over — we'll tell you honestly whether we can meet it before you place an order.

Why Choose Us

What "dependable supply" actually means.

01

On-Spec, Verified

Every barite, bentonite, and fly-ash shipment is tested against API 13A and ASTM C618 before it leaves our facility — not after your crew finds out the hard way.

02

Cross-Border Expertise

14 years moving bulk minerals between Texas and Northern Mexico means we handle the logistics and paperwork you'd rather not.

03

Scalable Supply

Pneumatic bulk or palletised bags, one-time or continuous — our supply scales with your project without surprise gaps.

04

Direct Access

You work directly with our founder and operations lead — not a call center. Questions get answered by people who know your account.

Founder-Led Operations

Mix Minerals was founded in Eagle Pass, Texas in 2012, on a straightforward premise: industrial buyers on both sides of the border needed a mineral supplier who would tell them the truth about what was in the truck. We started with the core drilling and concrete minerals and grew the line as customers asked for more — today fourteen minerals across five industries, moving in both directions across the Texas–Coahuila border.

We've stayed deliberately small. That means when you call about a load, you reach someone who knows your account and can actually make a decision.

Frequently Asked Questions

The questions buyers ask us first.

What is your minimum order?
It depends on the mineral and the packaging. Bulk pneumatic deliveries are typically full truckload; bagged product can be ordered in smaller quantities. Tell us your volume and we'll tell you straight away whether it works.
How fast can you deliver?
For stocked minerals to points in Texas and Northern Mexico, we generally schedule within a few business days of order confirmation. Lead time depends on the material, volume, and destination — we confirm a firm date when we quote.
Do you handle the cross-border logistics and paperwork?
Yes. Cross-border supply between Texas and Northern Mexico is a core part of what we do and has been since 2012. We coordinate the movement and documentation so your team isn't managing a customs process.
Can I get a certificate of analysis?
Yes — a COA is available with every shipment. If your QC process requires it before the truck arrives, tell us when you order and we'll get it to you in advance.
What packaging options are available?
Fly ash ships pneumatic bulk only. Hydrated lime ships pneumatic bulk or in 50 lb bags. Barite, bentonite and calcium carbonate ship pneumatic bulk or in 100 lb bags. Every other mineral we carry ships in 50 lb bags. Specific options vary by mineral and are listed on each mineral's page and spec sheet.
Do you supply outside Texas and Northern Mexico?
Our core service area is Texas, New Mexico, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Northern Mexico. We do serve points outside that footprint depending on volume and material — ask and we'll be straight with you about whether the freight makes sense.
Can I get a sample before committing to a full order?
For most minerals, yes. Samples let your lab or plant verify the material against your own mix design or fluid program before you commit. Tell us what you're evaluating and we'll arrange it.
Who will I actually be dealing with?
Ivan Davila, our founder, or Jesus Martinez, who runs operations. Mix Minerals is deliberately small enough that you talk to the people who know your account, not a call center.
